Sifat Mekanik Komposit Alam Berbahan Dasar Limbah Cangkang Kemiri dan Resin Epoxy
ABSTRACT
Natural composites have relatively good environmental and mechanical properties. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the volume fraction of a composite made from candlenut shell powder on the mechanical properties of shear and bending strength. The main ingredients of the composite material are candlenut shells as reinforcement and epoxy resin as a binder. Pecan shells are crushed into powder with a size of load The average bending stress of the volume fraction of candlenut shells: epoxy is 55%: 45%, 60%: 40%, 65%: 45%, 70%: 30%, 75%: 25%, 80%: 20%, 85% : 15%. respectively 21.99 MPa, 19.43 MPa, 14.17 MPa, 8.7 MPa, 6.27 MPa, 5.67 MPa, and 5.63 MPa. The results showed that the bending strength of the composite decreased with the addition of the candlenut shell powder composition. Shear strength of shell/epoxy powder composite at volume fraction 55%: 45%, 60%: 40%, 65%: 45%, 70% 30%, 75% 25%, 80% 20%, 85% 15% successively 15.09 MPa, 8.25 MPa, 11.08 MPa, 8.79 MPa, 8.45 MPa, 9.18 MPa, and 5.48 MPa. The average value of shear stress has a decreasing trend along with the reduction in the composition of the epoxy resin of the composite. However, at the composition of 60%: 40%, the results were not perfect because the mixture was not homogeneous.
