ABSTRACT

The development of the use of concrete bricks (paving blocks) as an alternative choice for surface pavement layers. Paving blocks are widely used in the construction sector, such as sidewalks, highways, parking lots, parks and so on. Paving blocks are made from a mixture of Portland cement and similar hydraulic adhesives, water and aggregates without reducing the quality of the paving blocks. Sand is a building material that is widely used in construction. Excessive use of sand will cause environmental damage. In general, Sikacim Concrete Additive is a chemical in the form of a liquid with a type of superplasticizer that serves to strengthen concrete, with a water reduction of up to 20% aiming to facilitate casting and increase the compressive strength of concrete at the age of 28 days. Sikacim, can help increase the compressive strength of porous concrete.The research was conducted by compacting three layers and using a mixture of concrete additive "SIKACIM" with variations of 0% and 2.5% of the cement weight, using rectangular specimens with a size of 20 cm x 10 cm x 6 cm as many as 10 pieces with a strong testing age. hit 28 days. Based on the test results, the compressive strength of paving blocks using 0% sikacim was 7.8 MPa, 2.5% sikacim was 9.6 MPa. We can see that the manufacture of paving blocks by layer compaction and the use of sikacim on the compressive strength of paving blocks with variations of 0% and 2.5%, shows an increase in the compressive strength of the plan paving blocks. The highest compressive strength test was obtained at a mixture composition of 2.5% sikacim.
