Eksplorasi Sistem Informasi Geografis dalam Distribusi Daerah Asal Mahasiswa Institut Teknologi Padang

The technology of the Geographic Information System (SIG) is now rapidly expanding, even its utilization is not only limited in the field of geography but has penetrated into various fields, no exception in the field of education. GIS technology has the ability to visualize the following spatial data Atribut-atributnya and present information in the form by using the map as an interface. One of the applications of GIS technology in the field of education is for the analysis of regional distribution of students. Distribution analysis of student origin becomes important because the more diverse the student origin that is in a campus or educational institution, this also occurs in the Institute of Technology Padang (ITP).
Students spread the Faculty of Engineering Institute of Technology in the field based on the address area of origin and majors. The distribution of FTSP students in ITP majority originated from West Sumatra province with the highest number of students from Padang City with a percentage of 22.2% or as many as 158 students while the most distribution for areas outside the province of Sumatra Gained a percentage of 3.5%
or as many as 25 students. With the information system of exploration students can assist in the administration and know the scope of students in the Field Technology Institute of Padang.
